Change to Porch Surgery Appointment System from Monday 28th June 2010
We have recently reviewed our access to appointments and have taken into account your feedback.
Whilst many of you have been pleased that you have been seen the same day you requested an appointment, some patients report that they have had difficulty getting through on the ‘phone and when they do make contact, all the same day appointments have gone and they are asked to ring back the following day.
To try to overcome this problem we would like to pilot a new system from Monday 28th June 2010.
We will be operating a “sit and wait” clinic, Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 10.30 am and 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
If you think your complaint necessitates being seen ‘on the day’ you can attend one of the “sit and wait” sessions (see above times) where you will be seen by either a doctor or nurse. You will not be given an appointment time, but we guarantee you will be seen during the clinic.
It is very important that patients attending the “sit and wait” clinic let reception know they will be attending (by ‘phone or at Reception). They will be asked for a brief summary of the problem which will ensure that they are dealt with by the most appropriate clinician as efficiently as possible.
We will no longer have “same day appointments” as the sit and wait session will accommodate patients who need to be seen on the day. By doing away with the ‘same day appointments’ we will be able to offer more routine appointments up to two weeks in advance.
We hope by implementing the above changes, it will help the demand on routine appointments and would welcome any suggestions/comments.

01249 717030. This is an answer phone service and available 24hrs/7days a week.
Cancelling appointments can also be taken on: 01249 713019 and 01249 712232 during opening hours.
Although we have up to three appointment lines being operated, this number is very busy first thing in the morning. If it is engaged, please be patient and keep trying. The receptionists will answer it as quickly as they can.
